EU Settlement Scheme

Important Info: EU Settlement Scheme – Do you need to take action?

When the United Kingdom left the EU on 31 January 2020 plans were put in place to put an end to the free movement between the EU and the UK and for new immigration rules that will come into place on the 1st January 2021. These new rules will affect all EU nationals who live in the UK or enter on or after the start date in January 2021.

We have many contractors under our employment who hold Non-British citizenship. If you are an EU, EEA, or Swiss citizen, you (and your family if applicable) can apply to the EU Settlement Scheme to continue living in the UK after 30th June 2021.

If your application is successful you’ll get either ‘settled’ or ‘pre-settled’ status.

Gaining a ‘settled’ determination means you can stay in the UK for as long as you like and can apply for British citizenship if you are eligible.

A ‘pre-settled’ status means you haven’t yet passed the timeframe to get a ‘settled’ determination of 5 years and that you can now stay in the UK for 5 years from the date you receive this status.

The deadline to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme is June 30th, 2021 but it is strongly advised to apply as soon as possible.

The application is free and is designed to be very efficient, straightforward, and user-friendly.
